Location

I provide sessions in-person at my downtown Bellingham, WA office. In the event of something preventing us from meeting during our scheduled time (ie illness, weather, travel, etc) you will have the option to utilize telehealth (video) sessions.

Initial consultation

I offer a complimentary 20-30 minute exploratory phone conversation (consultation call), so that we can have a chance to meet, you can bring your questions, and we can get a sense if we’d be a good fit together.

Weekly Sessions

Because I believe that the foundation of therapy is a relationship that grows with connection, consistency and trust, I offer weekly sessions to my clients. In order to establish a supportive and safe place for you, I believe its most successful when time together is regularly scheduled and frequent. Once we establish a time that works for both of our schedules, you will have the same time slot reserved for you each week. If you are needing or wanting more care or support, we can discuss meeting two times a week.

Insurance

I currently accept Premera, Lifewise, Aetna, & Kaiser insurance. If you would like to use your insurance benefits, I recommend that you confirm your coverage before our first appointment by contacting your insurance provider and asking about your specific plan's coverage and copays for outpatient mental health services.

Rates

For individuals without insurance, who have insurance that I do not accept, or who chose to not use insurance, I offer a sliding-scale fee. If you elect to self-pay, we will discuss the session fees prior to an initial session.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Because of the nature of my training and experience, most of my clients are adults (18yrs+) who are wanting to engage in self discovery, healing of core pains and trauma, and personal growth.

We may not be a good fit if you are seeking therapy primarily for ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, Parenting or are wanting short term therapy (1-3 months).

I provide non-emergency clinical services by scheduled appointment. I am not available to provide counseling services between appointments, crisis counseling or immediate support in the case of an emergency. Because of this I am not equipped to provide support for people who are actively suicidal, in imminent danger (such as in a domestic violence situation or engaged in violent self harm), or are otherwise needing more care than my scope of practice.

If I cannot provide the level of care that you need or if what you need is outside of my scope of practice, I will be intentional about letting you know and providing appropriate referrals.

  • I value the courage it takes to want something different for yourself. Reaching out to a stranger can seem a little bit weird, vulnerable…maybe scary. Its totally normal as a part of starting anything new, including a relationship with a new therapist. I’d love to hear from you and welcome your questions.

I provide a free 20-30 minute exploratory conversation (consultation call), so that we can have a chance to meet, you can bring your questions, and we can sense if we’d be a good fit together. We will begin where you are.

The first few sessions are also our time to establish a rhythm together, clarify what is drawing you to counseling and what your goals may be to begin (they can always change). I always welcome my clients to let me know how things are going for them and if they need anything to shift in the way that we are together. This is a relationship for you, and I want it to be supportive and honoring of what you need.

  • I currently accept Premera, Lifewise, Aetna, and Kaiser insurance. For any out of pocket payments, my processor works with all major debit or credit cards, or FSA or HSA cards. Payments will be charged the day of the session. I require a card on file for all services for co-pays, session fees and in case of missed or late-canceled appointments.

I require a 48-hour notice for any cancellations or absences. Without a 48-hour notice, there will be a $100 fee for the time reserved for you. Please note that insurance does not cover missed or late-cancelled sessions.

  • The metaphor that grounds my approach to life and the therapy process is that each of us and our lives is a sacred woven tapestry. We are deeply interconnected within parts of ourselves and to the world around us: other human and more-than-human beings, the natural world, including the past, present and future. Threads can represent different aspects of our selves and relational world: what has shaped us, who we are connected to, what personal and cultural narratives are at play, the collection of emotions, sensations and voices within us, what our body remembers and knows, our strengths and struggles, what breaks our heart and what makes us come alive. Healing and growth involves getting to know those threads, sometimes tending and sometimes unraveling, towards a creative reweaving to support a deeper sense of belonging and home.
